"real news articles" which can sway their vote through manipulation. Or how these big corporations have millions of people's information and, if put into the wrong hands, can use it against the consumer. Or how today with the iPhone 10 there is still slut-shaming of women who feel body positive and want to wear what they want. Even the thought of how in some states it is so easy for anyone to get their hands on a weapon especially an assault rifle. This is where I saw how big the divide is of cultural advancement compared to technological advancement. A tragic example of this that has happened recently is the school shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. The shooting led to the deaths of seventeen people and wounded many more. Then came in the NRA with the whole second amendment routine but one must look at the second amendment for its context. Around that time the weaponry used were muskets and cannons. That is beside the historical reason for the second amendment which was put into place in case the newly formed government of the United States went into tyranny or just in case other foreign countries decide to invade. Most second amendment advocates say that it is to protect ourselves against the government. Firstly, you think that your assault rifles or hunting rifles will do any damage against tanks and drones? And secondly, while they fight for this right many other I would argue more important rights are being stripped away. These poor people are ignorant of the true injustice within this country. Technology has changed so rapidly that it is insane to keep up that amendment. What has not changed though are the mindsets of people. There is still racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and so on. Has society move along with those issues, yes but we are a long way from fixing those problems.

The five artist I had looked up and use as references for my project is Austin Kleon, Brendan Carroll, the group Indecline, Michael Grab, and Touba Alipour. Austin Kleon influenced me with his colored out poetry using newspaper articles and creating a poem out of the words in the article. I, of course, will be cutting out the words from newspapers which gives the poem the look of old but new. Brendan Carroll influence me by his Money Shot (Frontal) Collection where he writes poems on 100 polaroid portraits. That is where the poetry on polaroids for my project come in. It is more so again the idea of an old media to show the present state of humanity. The group Indecline were the ones who during the general election erected nude Donald Trump Statues in major cities around America. That really what gave me the pop-up art idea for my pop up charging station. It puts the project into the ballpark of the public. It is up to them and their curiosity to take a look at the sculpture. Michael Grab influenced me with how he would make a sculpture of rocks that would look as if created naturally. Hence why I would want to make my project be disguised as a charging station. Lastly, Touba Alipour influenced me with her political neon sign art America. Just gave me the idea to add the neon lights to the sculpture to really draw people in.

My audience will be everyone in the NJCU that walks by the quad. The quad or the crossroads between G-sub, the K building, and Rossey Hall so to give the project as much attention as possible. I think this project will most definitely fit into my portfolio as an amateur artist, poet, writer and so on. This is just a start to a long journey of making creations. Certainly, if this project goes well and I really enjoyed it then I will create more sculptures like this one but on different subjects and publish them in different areas.

Update-
Have ordered the materials such as the lights, the speaker, and foldup cart. Will be heading to the crafts store to buy a wooden box, and, paint. Will also be heading to Lowes to pick up wiring, rope, and outlet covers. Already have three sitting pillows complementary due to extras that my dad had. Have started collecting a large shaft of newspapers to give me a variety of words to choose from to make the poems on the polaroids. I have decided to take pictures of objects instead of people. Also thought of maybe tackling the topic of modernization alongside my original topic but I am still unsure.

I have most of the materials.

- Here is the type of style of poetry I would use for the project: It would be a mix or Oulipo and Surrealist tactics while also act out a narrative for the piece. An example: The lock lustered pavilions pave paths towards trivial transport of overseeing google.
