Over the past five years media has become a part of my everyday life. With technology becoming a part of the 21st centuries biggest social and economical outlet in today’s society. When I was in elementary school people used a minimum amount of sources of communicating other than the internet including: letters, in person conversations, and pagers that sent miniature messages to people quickly. Now you can send an email, comment on a person’s status and virtual video message a person. With the media coverage becoming faster and more accessible than ever, the news is using the media to branch out to more viewers. Now in today's society media is a device that I have to become encounter with because it has even become apart of my academic career. Since high school, teachers have began to use social media to bring the class up to date with the latest sources of communication.

In school, teachers use blogs, twitter, video chatting, and other sources of media to speak and bring the class together. In high school, my first experience with a media outlet being the source of my learning experience was google docs and sharing documents with other students and the teacher to get an immediate response. Before everyone would be in class and we would read aloud our papers and the teacher would speak her response or our paper would be turned in and given a written response connected to it. Now even in college, professors are introducing different blog sites for everyone to have a common ground for communication, using social media to stay in tune with the news going around in the world and tweeting answers to questions whether for extra credit or simply another way to turn in homework.

 The only way to learn about politics and know what is going on was to watch the news or read the newspaper. Now you can find the latest politics about the white house, congress and the latest news in your local town right from Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. With social media being the easiest way for people to communicate, news stations like “CNN”, have joined social media to branch out to their viewers. I personally follow, “CNN” on Twitter and political voices including Barack Obama because their tweets keep me up to date with what is going on in the world before I even turn to the news.  Media is a great way for people to take stands in resistance and protest because it opens up to a broader audience rather than just the local paper or the local community. With social media taking over, they can connect people from all over the world to help make the difference for one event that can then start a domino effect to other problems, acts of resistance or protest. Recently women were marching for women’s rights in Texas however, since I viewed the article from social media I was able to join the women’s movement that day by dressing in pink while at work to show my appreciation for the cause of the women’s movement.
