All three of these eras correlate with each other
by negativity. All three eras are expanding and industrializing but society does
not want new, so they will judge until majorities are doing it
The psychology aspect comes into play by using the DSM-IV
to talk about the Prohibition because drinking too much acholic can cause
disorders. (Prohibition engender
disorders, Flappers are being bullied). Being that this was during the 1920’s
it was extremely hard for colored people. During this time segregation was
still intact. Many colored individuals wear being killed, kid napped by others.
Colored individuals where not respected and mistreated. So, for the Jazz Age to
come about, it really brought people together through music. The Jazz age was a post world war one movement in the 1920's, one reason why jazz is significant was because this is where dance and music emerged. The birth of Jazz was credited to African Americans, but white Americans where also involve with this movement which was huge because during this time if you where white helping a colored person, you where looked frowned pond. Music is a great
way to calm people down and it is a great exercise for mindfulness. “Mindfulness is
a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you
carefully observe your thoughts and feelings without judging them good or
bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the
moment and awakening to your current experience, rather than dwelling on the
past or anticipating the future” (Mindfulness). Mindfulness is a psychological term
used for individuals to relax and to think to yourself. There are multiple ways
in order to practice mindfulness: Observations, Listening, Thinking and many
more.
Growing up during this time and being a colored person was extremely hard. Around this time period where eight clubs which are now known as Fraternities and Sororities. The National Pan- Hellenic Counsel, had eight members until the late 1900's was when the last organization was incorporated. During this time African Americans where in universities, when students where walking around campus they where always walking together and in a group, just incase anything happens. A lot could of occurred to these students in this era, something significant that these students did was lock up with each other. The purpose to locking up with others was so they would not be separated or kid nap. So, when it was time to meet up at night for there book club if there was someone missing they either where killed or kidnaped. It was important to move with a purpose around campus and to be highly aware of your surroundings. Unfortunately they history goes into depth but I am unable to reveal those secrets. IT is our fraternity secret that we are not allow to talk about it. All of the organization have different background and principles but at the end of the day we stood together and overcame the segregation. We will always have love for each other #D9 #GreekUnity.

The Gruella Girls can be tied to it cause is
the silhouette. (No case no Face). Didn’t want to recognize one specific person
because, one person did not only help make this movement famous. It should be a
couple of people that should be recognized. Even though the musicians and
Flappers where perpetrated, it’s wasn’t just one person who got bullied or
disrespect during this era, it was copious amounts of people that’s why u
didn’t not put a face on the painting. They had each other back no matter what.
Some may ask why the silhouette are back to back. The reason for this is
because if it wasn’t for prohibition or the flapper’s eras then, there probably
wouldn’t be, “The Roaring Twenties”. So, if you remove one thing then I
probably would had make the 1920’s significant in history. This is something
that many students learn in high school. A famous novel that many students read
in high school is, “The Great Gatsby”.
This novel highlight flappers and gives you a better understanding on how that
moved and behaved. Everything that occurred in history has a lesson to it and
that’s is, why these events are significant especially in American.
For the Prohibition, I took an empty
bottle of wine with a tab bit in the bottle representing once alcohol enters
the human body you will never be pure again and they action that was done
during intoxication will always be in your head. I went around many students
and even adults and I asked them if they would be able to participate in my
project.
I asked the participate three questions. The
objective it to answer one out of the three.
1.) Elaborate on a black story you
been through when you were intoxicated.
2.) Why do you choice to drink?
3.) Name any Pros or Cons when it
comes to drinking.
The
goal is to full up the bottle. The bottle is all black because this is a dark
period or a dark story that you are writing about and putting it into the
bottle. Hopefully when you transfer the dark story into to the bottle it will
clear your mind. Also, this is letting the participate known there are more
people out there that possible been through the same thing as them. This can
also be labeled as a Mindful Awareness. For those that do not know What
Mindfulness is when a person lives in the moment and tents to forget about the
pass but also try to highlight the pass, so it does not reoccur. As everyone
knows when you bottle something up sooner or later it will tip over or explode.
So, I will either throw the bottle into the recycling bin or smash the bottle
so everything in the bottle is shattered. By destroying the bottle, it
signifies that the dark storied are all shattered and should never be spoked
about again but always in the conscience of the individual, so it does not
reoccur.
In order to get my project out to the public I
reacted a twitter because that is one of the most frequent used social media. On
my twitter account I gave a brief explanation on what this project was and elaborated
on my three categories. I uploaded pictures from the internet long side with
pictured of my art work. If you want a better look you can follow me at, https://twitter.com/TheRoaring20s2. My followed are even allowing
to write to me if they want to share there stories when it comes to the Blackout.
I am hoping to make my twitter account popular because I feel like many people
can benefit from this. Even if individuals are share I will be extremely confidential,
so they feel secure.
Through
the course of the class we attended two exhibitions. In the "WW11: eye of
the storm” exhibition was an interesting piece of art called, “"The Ark
Project”. It was a representation of the Noah’s Ark. Noah's ark the objective
was to save whatever he could. So, the artist Deborah Sperry had pieces of
paper and a writing utensil so everyone that attended the exhibition is able to
write significant they can save. I thought it was pretty cool it is a great way
to engage with the exhibitions. Once the audience wrote on the piece of paper
they would stick it to the ark. I thought it was a great idea to I borrowed it
and try to replicate the idea with my Blackout bottle to represent prohibition. The Picture
of the project Undergrounds by Linda Streicher, can also correlate with my
project because it is extremely significant. Next to the project was a nutrient
list that elaborated on what does into the earth and how it gets polluted. "More
than just making claims about change, artist and activist can use institutions
as forms that need to be manipulated” (Thompson 81). The earth and the water are ruined cause of
us. Global warming occurs when
carbon dioxide (CO2) and other air pollutants and greenhouse gases collect in
the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that have bounced off
the earth’s surface (Positive Parenting Strategies).
This is very dangerous because it can hurt the people that live
on earth by providing unhealthy air and diseases. Forests,
farms, and cities will face troublesome new pests, heat waves, heavy downpours,
and increased flooding. Global warming can also decrease or eliminate
our natural recourse. So that is a huge factor why we need to be more
earth friendly (MacMillan, 2018). Fun
fact, it is psychologically proven that a person’s well-being of happiness increases
and impact mental and psychical health when they are generativity and altruist.
A way to be generatively and altruist is to take care of the world so when the
next generation comes they can have a place to live. They tend to put other
people in from of them. There are multiple ways to prevent pollution. All it
takes to awareness. In
recent years, China has taken the lead in global-warming pollution, producing
about 28 percent of all CO2
emissions (MacMillan, 2018). Perhaps
by using less plastic and finding alternative ways to prevent pollution would
help the planet earth to last longer. My silhouettes of the Jazz Age and Flappers goes hand on hands with
the “Undergrounds” portrait because around my
silhouette has different vocabulary or components that represent these
categories. The words that are on the poster/ painting talked about they
struggle they been through and how they evolved.
Overall, I got my creativity from the different exhibition that I attended and even my knowledge from my Self: I as Image class I had last semester. Art really is a beauty and help me to think outside of the box. This is a project that I am extremely proud of because I did it on my own.
